Albina Shagimuratova returns to Met and Royal Opera in 2015 for two house-role debuts
Albina Shagimuratova returns to New York and London in the coming months for two leading roles. From , the Russian soprano sings Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, one of her signature roles, for the first time on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera. Returning to Mary Zimmerman’s production, in which she starred at Teatro alla Scala, Albina stars opposite Joseph Calleja as Edgardo, under the baton of Maurizio Benini.
In June and July, Albina heads to London for Don Giovanni with the Royal Opera House, her second Mozart role with the company. As Donna Anna, she is paired with Rolando Villazón as Don Ottavio, Dorothea Röschmann as Donna Elvira, and Christopher Maltman in the title role. Alain Altinoglu conducts ROH Director of Opera Kasper Holten’s production, which can be seen from .
